Training for occupational health and human resources teams on how to support women diagnosed with cancer

Supporting women with cancer

Supporting female employees diagnosed with cancer can be challenging. A woman’s physical and emotional requirements are likely to change and evolve as she progresses through diagnosis and treatment before entering a phase of remission or stable disease.

We can provide a session for occupational health professionals and human resources managers that aims to:

  • Give top level information on the most common female cancers in the UK including ovarian, breast, cervical and endometrial.
  • Discuss the difficulties a woman might face in getting the right diagnosis (delays in diagnosis) and how this can impact upon her work
  • Highlight some of the long-term and late-side effects a woman may experience following treatment for cancer
  • Talk about some of the physical and emotional challenges women face when returning to employment, and suggestions for managing these in the work place

Each occupational health professional will receive a pack of supporting information covering the topics outlined in the presentation and information on further sources of support and reliable information.

“Thank you for delivering an excellent presentation to our UK Occupational Health Advisors, the educational material provided has enabled a number of initiatives at site level to raise awareness of female cancers, ovarian in particular and the impact on many. The feedback has been very positive from both OH Advisors and employees. I would highly recommend the "Awareness session" to Occupational Health professionals and employers.”
